This world is no walk in the park! Yes to some right now, they may feel on top of the world; others at rock bottom. Yet as Christians we continue to press on and pursue God amidst it all. However, without a shadow of a doubt there are times when our faith is weakened, tested, or simply set to the side. Without the challenges the world brings, we would not have developed the resilience to be the light within this fallen world.

As this is specifically directed towards men, I also believe there is much of this that is needed in the lives of women. Men choose isolation over vulnerability. We hide in the shadows our pain, struggles, fears, short comings. I myself feel burdened by much of these issues. 1 Peter 5; 6-10 speaks on these things.

6” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

Many men these days do not know what a true brotherhood looks like. I have been blessed to have met and fostered relationships with people in collegealong with other ventures across the country. Now, being on my own, folks scattered all over and getting established, it is evident of the immense amount of loneliness and isolation that occurs for men. Clearly, the devil would like for us to be divided, all alone, isolated, and without others challenging, equipping, and calling us to be more for the kingdom. 1 Peter explains this perfectly. The same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. In this though we can have hope that the Lord will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us.

In a world more connected than ever, we are more isolated than ever. How can that be? We aren’t meant to carry all this on our own. As disconnected and connected as we are, it is easier than ever to smile and nod; ultimately burying the very thing that has us on the brink of burnout. If you could take one thing away from this message, it would be that..

God didn’t design you to carry this alone – so stop living like you have to!
