Wake Up

Part 1 of seeking something greater

It’s easy to go with the flow these days—to ride the wave without ever really questioning it. I see it all the time: people who haven’t made their faith their own. It’s inherited from parents, borrowed from the church, or reinforced in small groups where everyone agrees and no one wants to ruffle feathers.

Even in the church, it can feel like we settle for surface-level messages instead of digging into the reality that we are fallen and in need of a Savior. The big question is, am I actually living this—or just around it?

The scary thing is that the enemy doesn’t always need to pull us into obvious sin—he’s just as satisfied making us comfortable. Distracted. Lukewarm. Forgetting the call to go and make disciples.

That’s what’s dangerous.

Because where I’m at, it’s easy to grab coffee, throw around Christian phrases—“God’s got it,” “just trust Him”—and move on. Meanwhile, we minimize what’s actually going on in the world and in people’s lives. If I’m honest, I’ve had conversations this week where I nodded along, said the right things, and left without anything actually changing.

Yes, we all experience highs and lows. But we can’t forget the mission.

In the Book of Revelation, it says:

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” (3:16)

That should wake us up.

I catch myself constantly thinking about my own problems—what I need, what I want God to do in my life—while ignoring the person right in front of me. Someone who might be walking through something I’ve already been through. Someone I could actually speak life into.

Sometimes I have to step back and realize:
Maybe what I went through wasn’t just for me.

Maybe it was so I could help someone else.

We’re not called to live consumed with our own lives. We’re called to see people, to step into their struggles, and to remember that this isn’t about us.

A lot of us don’t need more comfort.

We need to wake up
