Never Settle

Short and sweet

Over the last year, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of four different weddings—one of them just this past weekend. Looking back and reflecting on the time spent celebrating and preparing my buddies to step into a new season—challenge, settling down, “ball and chain,” whatever you want to call it—I’ve been thinking more about the depth and beauty of what’s really taking place.

Two becoming one.

In every wedding I’ve experienced, there’s been a clear confirmation of why those two people are together. God brought them together for something greater—for His purposes, for His service. As a witness to that, I’ve seen how marriage is meant to build, grow, and challenge both people to further the Kingdom in ways they could never do on their own.

So this is a reminder—for myself, and maybe for you too: don’t settle for less than what you know God has in store.

I don’t believe there’s only one person destined for each of us, even though God knows the full story. But I do believe there are lessons, refinement, and growth in every season—whether it’s with a person meant to stay, or one who was only there to prepare you for what’s next.

Whether it’s a future spouse or something else entirely, God has good things ahead. And sometimes, we have to say no to one thing in order to make room for what He’s truly trying to bring into our lives.

I haven’t met her yet, but I’ve seen the standard. These marriages have shown me what God intended it to look like.

So I won’t settle—and neither should you.
